Best Ceramic Heater in 2020 – Step by Step Comparison

When it comes to space heaters, portable or otherwise, it’s hard to beat ceramic heaters when it comes to energy consumption and performance.

While it’s true that they work by using electricity, as opposed to fuel, they’re more efficient than other electric heaters, making them a good choice for those who are trying to save money without ringing kerosene or propane heaters to their homes.

Ceramic heaters are also one of the safest types of heaters out there, thanks to the fact that the ceramic heating element is never exposed, which minimizes any possible risks of fire. Because of their energy efficiency and because the materials used to build the heaters aren’t toxic, ceramic heaters are considered environmentally friendly as well as beautiful.

Choosing the ideal ceramic heater for you is not an easy task, particularly because there are many models out there. However, we’ve compiled a short list in which we’ve reviewed the Top 10 ceramic heaters to make things easier for you.

10 Best Ceramic Heater Comparisons

Best Ceramic Heater Reviews

We’ve covered different types of heaters, so make sure to read to the end to explore all the possible models.

Let’s get started!

Lasko 760000 Cyclonic Ceramic Heater

With a sleek and modern design, this beautiful ceramic heater is an excellent addition for anyone looking for a way to warm up their home.

The Lasko 76000 is entirely digital, which means that you can set the timer and thermostat to suit your needs. This feature will also let you save a lot of money in electricity, not only because you won’t be using central heat, but also because you can set it to start running just a few minutes before you arrive, ensuring your home is toasty and warm.

If you’re concerned about leaving your heater unattended, don’t be. This heater is equipped with overheat protection, which shuts it off to prevent overheating. Not only that, the design also allows it to be placed against the wall to keep it from tipping over, though rest assured that it also shut off automatically in case it tips over.

If you’re the kind of person who rarely uses heaters because they alter the air quality, don’t worry. This ceramic heater comes with an ionizer that lets you improve the air freshness of your home whenever it’s in use.

Weighing only 16 pounds, this heater is relatively easy to move around, though its design is a little bulky and it can be cumbersome to transport. Powerful enough to comfortably heat up rooms up to 500 square feet, the unit nevertheless stays cool to the touch, even when in use.

What we liked

  • Affordable
  • Air ionizer included
  • Includes safety features such as a stay-cool casing and an anti-overheating switch
  • Looks very modern
  • Easy to use
  • Comes with a remote

What we didn't like

  • This heater doesn’t stand well on its own, so you should place it against a wall or sturdy surface whenever necessary.
Bonaire Oscillating Tower Heater BCH7302-UM

A great option for those of you who don’t have space to spare, this vertical ceramic heater is both affordable and reliable, thanks to its ceramic heating element, which takes up most of the heater.

Weighing roughly 3 pounds, this heater is very lightweight but it’s also easy to accidentally knock over, which means it’s better if you place it against a wall or, better yet, a corner.

In fact, a corner is probably the best choice, as it has an oscillating fan feature that blasts heat towards the room, heating small and medium sized rooms in a matter of minutes.

Safety wise, this heater will shut off if it starts overheating or if it’s accidentally knocked over. Not only that, but it has a stay-cool casing that keeps it cool to the touch, though that doesn’t apply to the front of this unit, so careful when using it.

If you’re worried about the environment as well as your pocket, this ceramic heater comes with an Eco-Smart feature that keeps the electricity consumption to a minimum, though it does slow down the speed with which it heats a room.

What we liked

  • Lightweight and portable design
  • Affordable
  • Very safe to use
  • Perfect for medium to small rooms
  • Sleek and attractive design

What we didn't like

  • Very easy to accidentally knock over.
Lasko CS30368 Heater, Ceramic Pedestal w Remote Control

A unique and fun looking heater, this is a very energy-efficient model that will bring warmth to your house thanks to its widespread oscillation.

Because of its design, this heater can blast hot air quickly through any room, though it works best in medium-sized rooms.

Thanks to its wide base, this heater can stand in the middle of a room, which will heat it up even faster. That same base will keep this heater from accidentally tipping off, but if it manages to do so regardless it’ll automatically shut off, thanks to its safety features. Other safety features include anti-overheating technology and a stay-cool housing, though we still suggest to keep your hands away from it if you can help it.

Don’t worry about accidentally burning yourself, though. This ceramic heater also comes with a remote, that lets you change temperatures and power even when it’s in use, and it also comes with a 8-hour timer, that lets you leave it unattended for a while.

As you can imagine just by looking at it, this heater does require some basic assembly but it’s very easy to achieve, so don’t worry. Weighing less than 10 pounds, this heater can be moved around the home without any issue, though the design is a little awkward to move around.

What we liked

  • Fun and modern design
  • Very efficient, heats up rooms quickly
  • Comes with a remote
  • 8-hour timer and various temperature settings
  • Safety features that keep it from overheating
  • Lightweight and easy to move

What we didn't like

  • Requires assembly, even if it’s easy to do
  • A little bulky once assembled
Honeywell HZ-7300 Digital Energy Smart Cool Touch Heater

A perfect choice for those of you looking for a small and portable ceramic heater, the Honeywell HZ-7300 weighs only 2.6 pounds and can be easily, and safely, placed on top of tables or counters to keep it away from children and pets.

This is an oscillating heater, though, so make sure to place it away from walls.

Our favorite thing about this heater is the fact that you can monitor the energy consumption, meaning you’ll know exactly how much power you’re using so you can adjust the thermostat accordingly. One of the few downsides of this heater is that it has a very short cord, so you’ll have to either buy an extension or keep it close to the wall.

Despite its small size, this heater is surprisingly powerful and will heat up a small room in a matter of minutes, though it does get a little loud when it starts raising the temperature. This unit also comes with an automatic sensor that keeps the temperature inside a room stable, though it doesn’t seem able to keep a room at less than 65 degrees.

What we liked

  • Affordable
  • Portable
  • Comes with a sensor that keeps the room at the designated temperature
  • Excellent safety features
  • Very powerful

What we didn't like

  • Ridiculously short cord
Lasko 754200 Ceramic Heater with Adjustable Thermostat

While very small, measuring only 9 inches in height and weighing less than 5 pounds, this little ceramic heater is surprisingly powerful, fully capable of heating an area of 150 square feet in a matter of minutes.

It comes with three different settings, one of which is just a fan, which makes this heater a perfect choice for those of you planning on using it through the year and not only during cold seasons.

Because of its small size, this unit doesn’t consume a lot of energy, which is a pus if you plan on using it in dorm rooms or other shared spaces. It’s also because of its small size that the temperature settings are limited to low and high, so if you’re looking for a wide range of temperature, this isn’t the heater for you.

It’s worth mentioning that this heater, while highly portable, doesn’t work well in humid environments, which includes bathrooms, Jacuzzi areas and the like.

What we liked

  • Very lightweight and easy to carry around, even in the office
  • Surprisingly powerful for its size
  • Can be used as a fan
  • Very affordable
  • Comes with two temperature settings

What we didn't like

  • Loud
Vornado SRTH Small Room Tower Heater

An excellent option for those of you looking for a small and elegant heater, the Vornado is only 3 pounds and only a few inches in height.

As you can imagine, this heater doesn’t pack a lot of power, but what it packs it uses efficiently, thanks to the V-Flow technology Vornado is known for.

This technology circulates the air through the entire room, heating it evenly rather than simply blasting air in one direction.

Another great attribute of this small heater is that it’s safe to use in the bathroom, though we still recommend to put it as far away as possible from possible water sources, just in case.

Because of its small size and the way it circulates heat, this heater works wonderfully as a corner heater, but it can easily be placed under a desk, on a bookshelf, a counter or similar places. Just keep in mind that leaving papers and fabrics around it is a fire hazard, so you should avoid it.

While that may sound dangerous, bear in mind that this heater does come with safety mechanisms, one of them shutting it off if it’s tipped over, the other shutting it off if it starts overheating. Function wise, this heater has 2 heat settings, a fan only option and a 4 hour timer.

What we liked

  • Affordable
  • Portable
  • Works great
  • Spreads heat around the entire room
  • Comes with a timer

What we didn't like

  • Easy to knock over
  • Loud
Lasko 751320 Ceramic Tower Heater with Remote Control

Another Lasko heater, this particular model is one of the most powerful they offer, as well as one of the most reliable.

As a tower heater, it gives you the opportunity to place a large and powerful heater on a corner or against a wall so that it takes up as little space as possible.

This particular model comes with three heating modes, one of which is automatic, which means it uses the thermostat to keep a room at a pre-set temperature. While this heater works using a fan, it doesn’t have a fan option, which we found disappointing.

As similar models, this unit has overheat protection and will shut off if accidentally knocked over. Also, as similar tower models, this one works by oscillating and spreading hot air through the room. This heater does get hot to the touch, though, so careful with that. Luckily, this heater comes with a remote, so you can change the settings even while it’s in use.

While this heater is very reliable and capable of heating medium sized rooms with no issue, it can only increase or decrease temperatures in 5 degree increments, which can be a problem to some.

What we liked

  • Efficient
  • Sturdy
  • Easy to use
  • Has a reliable automatic mode
  • Doesn’t take up a lot of space
  • Safe

What we didn't like

  • Only increases temperature in 5 degree increments.
Holmes Quartz Tower Heater

A small yet powerful space heater, this one works using a mixture of ceramic and quartz, which makes it heavier than similar sized heaters, but even more effective.

This heater works not by blowing heat but rather by radiating it, which means it takes longer to spread heat through a room but does it more thoroughly, reaching even the farthest corners, as long as the room isn’t too large.

Because it doesn’t have a fan, this heater is surprisingly quiet and it also doesn’t dry the environment, making it one of the best choices for those with breathing problems

Like similar models, it has a list of safety features: Tip-over shut off, overheat shut off and an auto safety shut off, which turns off the heater if it’s been on for too long. This heater only has two heat settings, which can be disappointing, but on the plus side it does make using it much easier, so there’s always that.

Because it radiates, it does tend to be a bigger fire hazard than ventilator heaters, so keep it away from things that might catch fire. The heater also gets quite hot while in use, so make sure to keep it away from children and pets.

What we liked

  • Efficient
  • Heats up rooms evenly
  • Easy to use
  • Sturdy
  • Comes with a variety of safety features
  • Quiet
  • Doesn’t dry the air or environment

What we didn't like

  • Gets hot to the touch
  • Takes a while to heat up a room
De’Longhi TCH7090ERD Safe Heat 15000 w Ceramic Tower Heater

Another powerful and reliable tower heater, this one has an oscillating design that spreads heat through the room, warming up medium sized rooms in a matter of minimum.

This heater comes with various heat settings, one of which heats up things much faster and one which reduces energy consumption, though it does slow down the speed with which it works.

Because this is a tower heater, it can be easily placed in a corner or against a wall and it won’t take a lot of heat. However, the design of this heater does make it very easy to tip over, so keep that in mind.

As with similar models, this one will shut off automatically if knocked over or if it starts overheating, so it’s safe to leave unattended, particularly because this heater has a timer that allows you to leave it running for a while before it shuts down automatically.

Not much more can be said about this straightforward heater, so if you want to help the environment as much as you want to help your pocket, rest assured that this heater is the right choice.

What we liked

  • Efficient
  • Sturdy
  • Doesn’t take much space
  • Works quickly
  • Comes with an energy-saving mode
  • Very safe to use
  • Remote controlled

What we didn't like

  • Loud
  • Can get hot to the touch when in use
Lasko #100 MyHeat Personal Ceramic Heater

This tiny portable heater is perfect to carry around with you everywhere you go and the fact that it’s available in 4 different colors makes it clear that this heater is as much as an accessory as it is an appliance.

Weighing only 1 pound and being no bigger than your average book, this heater fits anywhere you place it. Under your desk, on your desk, on the counter, on the coffee table, placed right besides your legs.

You name it!

Even though it’s small, it can be quite powerful and it will keep you warm through the winter. This power does come with a drawback, though, and that’s the fact that they’re surprisingly loud, so it can be a little distracting.

This tiny heater is very easy to knock over and, since it’s so small and simple, it doesn’t have any sort of auto shot off security measures, so you should never leave it unattended.

The simple design also means that there’s no way you can adjust the heat, so you’ll have to make do with the pre-set settings.

What we liked

  • Affordable
  • Very portable
  • Lightweight
  • Powerful
  • Available in various colors
  • Easy to use

What we didn't like

  • Not enough safety features
  • No temperature adjustment

Now that you know what to look for in a ceramic space heater and you know which ones are the best out there, we’ll leave you with a small list of safety precautions so you can start using your new heater without any risk!

Avoid Humidity

Most ceramic heaters don’t work well in humid environments, such as bathrooms. If you’re planning on using your heater for this purpose, make sure to thoroughly check each model to see whether they can be used there or not.

Avoid Extension Cords

Because space heaters draw so much electricity, it’s important to always use them on a wall outlet. This will minimize the risks of short circuits. To avoid any incidents, make sure to research the cord length of the space heater model you’re interested in before buying it.

Cord Precautions

While we’re talking about cords, make sure not to cover them with anything and to extend them completely before using them. Folded cords require more energy to function and can lead to overheating.

Careful With Children

While most ceramic heaters do come with a bunch of safety measures to ensure children are safe, it’s important to be proactive about it and to keep them away from the heaters, whether they’re in use or not.

The same goes for pets.

Choose The Right Area

The right area for any space heater is away from high traffic areas where it can be accidentally knocked over. Placed directly against a wall or in a corner are usually the best ideas, but this changes from household to household so simply make sure to keep it away from others.

You should also avoid putting heaters on top of furniture, unless they’re designed with that specific purpose, and you should always make sure to keep them away from things that might catch fire, such as paper, fabric or other objects.

Carpets, matts, room dividers and plants also fall in this category. We’ve come to the end of our review, thank you very much for reading! If you’ve found our information useful, don’t forget to leave a comment.
